A fine and elegant English late George III library chair or bergère of large scale having solid mahogany frame with caned back, sides, and deep seat with loose squab cushion, the shaped and reclined back with reeded crestrail and sides continuing into padded arms ending in tapering reeded and turned spindle supports on raised panel corner-blocks connecting to seat-rail with reeded center ‘tablet’ joining stop-fluted sabre-form front legs and splayed rear all on original brass casters. Height from floor to to top of seat-rail is 13.63″; cushion measures 25″ x 20.5″ x 4″; arm height to top of padded rest is 27.5″.
