Spaniel Needlepoint Stool, c. 1820

Looking quintessentially Mario Buatta is this wonderful circa 1820 English regency period mahogany stool having tall upholstered seat with original needlepoint or tapestry, the top depicting a spaniel carrying a letter in its mouth and all sides having a wide running foliate rope pattern, on turned and reeded legs. An interior frame support is inscribed "Ellen Garner a present from her Mother November 14th 1892" and the webbing is double signed "J. C. Sharpe", presumably the needleworker.
