A C R O T E R I O N is pleased to offer this fine circa 1875 English Aesthetic Movement low table or stand of diminutive two-tier étagère form attributed to famed architect-designer E. W. Godwin (1833 -1886) and renowned London 'art furniture' makers, upholsterers, decorators, and retailers Collinson and Lock (fl.1870-1897), of solid macassar ebony construction and rectangular form, having all-over ring-turned decoration to shelf 'frames' and vertical supports, the tops of which are inset with ivory roundels.  Interior of shelves measure 17.38" x 12.5".  A rare and exceptional piece. Literature: Soros, Susan Weber. 'The Secular Furniture of E. W. Godwin'. The Bard Graduate Center, New York: Yale University Press, 1999.
