A very fine circa 1780 English coal or kindling bucket of brass-bound mahogany round tapered and pierced stave construction with upper opposing ‘Dutch-drop’ side handles and possibly original brass liner. Additional measurements: 15.88″ x 15.75″ round excluding handles, liner is 11.44″ x 14.25″ diameter. In addition to use around the hearth, it would also make a very chic waste-paper basket for the office or a receptacle for dog leashes, toys, etc., by a doorway.
