A very fine circa 1620 Ottoman Turkish Iznik pottery shallow bowl, plate, or charger of good size having under-and-overglaze polychrome decoration, the center with stylized tulips, representing ‘Allah’, and carnations, representing ‘Muhammad’, within an “ammonite scroll” border. A rare example in exemplary condition.  Note: The ‘white rectangle’ shown in the lower rim is light reflection from the still lustrous glaze and not inpainting as it may appear.

Condition: Good. Wear commensurate with age and use. Typical glaze loss around extremities and an area within the foot-ring to the reverse, two superficial glaze hairlines visible to underside; no chips, cracks or repairs. Again, a rare example in desirable condition.
