An exquisite circa 1840 Japanese export tilt-top table or stand of Nagasaki manufacture having allover abalone inlay in black lacquer, the top with with male and female ‘Japanese green’ pheasants, the national bird of Japan, roosting in flowering cherry tree branches above flowering peonies and ‘maki-e’ rocks on floral inlaid baluster-form pedestal support and scroll-leg tripod base.
