A circa 1690 Italian maiolica shallow tazza of Savona manufacture having elaborately molded and pierced rim with reserves decorated allover in hand-painted underglaze blue florals and butterflies with central architectural scene. A wonderful example rare in this condition. Literature: Chilosi, Cecilia and Eliana Mattiauda (eds.) 'Bianco Blu', Milan, Skira, 2004, p. 94.

Good. Condition considered excellent for age, material, and use. Very minor fine glaze lines and glaze losses at extremities typical of tin-glazed wares. Shallow loss to interior of footring.
